How to add your upcoming Hash to this site

Note: Ideally do not post a run that is to happen more than 4 weeks in the future, thank you.

Compose your submission

To post notice of your Hash follow the 6 steps below in strict order, please.(Tip: Use the Tab key to move down the form.). When you get to step 6 your composed message is checked and if something is missing, you will be returned to the offending step so you can correct it:-

Who is setting the run (if there are 2 people make sure the word 'and' appears somewhere)? .
Either select a previously set venue from this list or, if your location is a new one, type the description here -> .
Next, enter the start time (e.g. 3:00 PM) .
Now, add a helpful note, if you want to, .
Almost done. If your venue is not in the given list the following box will be empty. . You will have to supply a map link. See below to find out how.
The message you are constructing should appear here. When it is complete and checked you can copy and paste into the volunteer's submission form.

How to make a map

Click on this link (ojw.dev.openstreetmap.org/StaticMap/), if it is working. If it is not, try going here (staticmap.openstreetmap.de/wizzard/).

When it works ojw.dev is reasonably easy to use. Notice the tabs across the top of the map. 'Location' should be active and you will need to use 'Add Icon' and 'Export' to complete the task. Note: If you go wrong you can usually go back through the steps you have done using the browser's Back button.

In Location, click on the map in roughly the right place and the map will zoom in and centre on where you clicked. Keep clicking until you have the meeting point accurately centred. If you do not want the map to zoom-in when you click it, click the [off] link below the map.
In 'Add Icon', click to add the marker click on the centre of the map.
Then, in Export, copy the text in the 'Image URL' box and return to this page.
Finally, click in the text box in Step 5 of the form and paste the Image URL into it.

If you want to use the staticmap wizzard the proceedure is not quite the same. There are no tabs for a start.

The map defaults to a world view so you have to zoom in on Andorra by double-clicking several times over where you think the country is until you chosen spot hoves into view.
When you have zoomed-in and your meeting point is nicely centred, add a marker simply by clicking on one. (For consistency's sake I suggest you use the red kite though if you must...)
Set the map size to 600 x 450.
Finally, you have to get the source address of the map to copy into the form. Sadly, the <img> tag given will not work for us so you have to click the 'show map in new window' box and copy the contents of that window's address bar instead. Return to this page
Back on this page, click in the text box in Step 5 of the form and paste the Image URL into it.

Whichever method you use to make your map, when it gets displayed on the Hash website it will probably be at a different zoom level (most likely zoomed-out). I have my reasons.

Running and Drinking in the Mountains

A 'Hash' is a strenuous walk following a trail of marks for about 60-90 minutes. Usually there are also one or two easier trails for the less energetic. You can run if you wish but most do not. At the end of the hash there are free beers and soft drinks.

A Hash is organised in a different part of Andorra each Saturday from April to December, and the trail is set by a different person (the 'hare') each week. The location is announced at the hash the previous week, by email and, of course, on this site.

After you have done ten hashes and been a hare you are presented with a Hash T-shirt. You get another award after 25, 50 and 100 hashes, providing you have been a hare since the previous award.

'Hash Bashes' in the form of dinners, picnics and barbecues are held about six times each year. For dinners in restaurants you get a subsidy if you have done five hashes in the last twelve months, and a larger subsidy if you have done ten hashes and been a hare. Recently we have also organised an annual two-day 'Away Hash' staying at a hotel in France or Spain.

Each hasher pays a fee (currently 2 Euros) for each week that he takes part, to pay for the drinks, the awards, the subsidies and some small expenses. School-age children are free. Dogs are welcome (and free) but must be kept on their leash before and after the run. Incessantly yappy dogs must remain in their cars until after the Hash Circle

Andorra is high, the countryside can be tough and the Hash House Harriers do not know if you are fit enough to take part. You do so entirely at your own risk and you need to be sure that you have the right clothes, equipment and accident insurance.
